İletişim bilimleri alanını geniş bir çerçeveye yerleştirerek, medya, habercilik, toplum bilimleri, toplumsal cinsiyet, ekran çalışmaları, oyun ve deneyim tasarımı, kurumsal iletişim, halkla ilişkiler, sinema, dil bilim, performans sanatları, pazarlama iletişimi, reklamcılık, görsel iletişim tasarımı, kültür yönetimi, müzik ve sonik çalışmalar, sanatsal ve kültürel çalışmalar gibi alanlarda doktora tezini yazmakta olan öğrencileri, araştırma yöntemlerini tartışmak üzere bir araya gelmeye davet ediyoruz.
Büyük konferansların yoğun programları arasına sıkıştırılmış sunumlarda besleyici bir geri bildirim ortamı bulmakta zorlanan, kuvvetli ve kalıcı bir iletişim ağı oluşturmayı önemseyen bir grup doktora öğrencisi olarak benzer hedeflere sahip doktora öğrencilerine sesleniyoruz. Yöntemlerimizi, çalışmalarımız çerçevesinde birlikte düşünmek, alan ve araştırmanın gereklerini birlikte yeniden yorumlamak istiyoruz.
Devinen bir alanda çalışmaların nasıl yürütüldüğüne ve nasıl yürütülebileceğine dair yapıcı tartışmaların değerli olduğunu düşünüyoruz. Bu konferansta da iletişim bilimleri ve sosyal bilimlerin farklı alanlarında, iletişim merkezli çalışan doktora öğrencilerini, kullandıkları yöntemlerin ve araştırma tekniklerinin çatısı altında buluşturmak istiyoruz.

Salvatore Scifo is a Deputy Head of Department of Communication of Journalism at the Faculty of Media and Communication, Bournemouth University (United Kingdom). He has published a series of articles and book chapters on British Community Radio and European Community Media. He is the current vice chair of the ECREA Radio and Sound Section (former Radio Research Section) (2018–present), and a former chair (2012–13) and steering group member (2016–19) of the MeCCSA Radio Studies Network. Salvatore is also an International Editorial Board member of the Journal of Radio and Audio Media (Taylor & Francis). He has been an invited speaker on British community radio to events as the 10th International Radio Biennale (Mexico City, 2014, keynote) and RadioDays Europe (Berlin, 2013). Among his most recent work, as a co-author, is the 2018 report Spaces of Inclusion – An Explorative Study on Needs of Refugees and Migrants in the Domain of Media Communication and on Responses by Community Media for the Council of Europe.

Can Koçak is a Lecturer in Media and Cultural Studies at the University of Sussex. Before his current post, he taught at King's College London, Department of Digital Humanities. He received his PhD in Communication from Istanbul Bilgi University with a thesis that focused on the representation of intellectual in Nuri Bilge Ceylan's films before receiving his master’s degree in Film and Drama at Kadir Has University with an interdisciplinary research derived from Persona (Ingmar Bergman, 1966).
Onur Aytaç
Onur Aytaç was born in 1991 in Üsküdar. He graduated from Marmara University Faculty of Law in 2014. Having a double major at the Faculty of Communication of the same university, Aytaç graduated from the Radio, TV and Cinema department in 2015. He studied at Istanbul Bilgi University Human Rights Law and Marmara University Cinema Graduate Programs, with the aim of doing interdisciplinary studies by blending both fields. Although he started his academic life as a research assistant in the Department of Criminal Law at Istanbul Kültür University, he resigned from this position and started to work as a research assistant at the Faculty of Communication, as he found it more enjoyable to do academic work in the field of communication and thought it was a more suitable field for interdisciplinary work. Aytaç, who was appointed to Mersin University Faculty of Communication within the scope of the Teaching Staff Training Program, worked at the Marmara University Communication Faculty Department of Cinema due to his graduate education, and in July 2017, he completed his master's degree in cinema with his thesis “Film Festivallerinde Belgeseller ve Sansür: Yeryüzü Aşkın Yüzü Oluncaya Dek ve Bakur”. Recalled due to the opening of a doctorate program at Mersin University, Aytaç has been working as a research assistant at Mersin University Faculty of Communication since October 2017 and continues his doctoral studies.

Melike Özmen completed her B.A. in Visual Arts and Design/Graphic Design at Başkent University in 2008, and her M.A. in Visual Communication Design at Yeditepe University in 2012. Currently, she is an Assistant Professor in the Communication Design and Management Department, Visual Communication Design Program at Istanbul Bilgi University and has obtained a PhD in Communication from the same institution, with her thesis concentration on information design. Her research interests include information design, transmedia storytelling and urban communication. More specifically, her work examines the designer’s personal experience as a user in the context of designing information.

Zeynep Kunt is the head of department at the Beykoz University Radio, Television and Film program. She has completed her PhD in Communication at Istanbul Bilgi University. She has BA in Social Anthropology and Sociology (University of Kent, UK), MA in Media Studies (New School University, USA). She previously worked in US and Turkey as a production associate for documentaries (ABC News Productions, CNNTürk). She worked for the Newton fund project “Plural Heritages of Istanbul: the Case of the Land Walls”. She has also worked as a communication consultant for various organizations including the Istanbul 2010 European Capital of Culture Agency and worked as the communication manager for the British Council Turkey. She is a member of Theatre of the Oppressed Center in Turkey and facilitator in forum theatre. She has participated in the Matra fund Act Academy program involving community building projects. Currently, her work focuses on media ethnography, visual culture, conflict transformation, participatory action research, cultural heritage.
Serhat Akkılıç
Serhat Akkılıç has earned his Ph.D. degree in Communication from Istanbul Bilgi University (2020), BSc degree from Istanbul Technical University (1992) and MBA from Koç University (1998). As a marketing communications professional, he co-founded one of Turkey’s leading digital communications companies in 1999 and he is currently leading HAVAS creative group. He taught undergrad level Communication Design course and currently co-lecturing MBA-level Digital Transformation courses at Istanbul Bilgi University, while serving the industry as a member of the Board of Directors in Turkish Advertising Foundation.
Galip Deniz Altınay
Galip Deniz Altınay was born in Tarsus. He graduated from Ankara University, Faculty of Communication, Department of Radio, TV and Cinema in 2000. In 2007, he completed the Radio, TV and Cinema Master's Program under the Social Sciences Institute of the same university under the supervision of Prof. Dr. Ruken Öztürk with his thesis titled "Presentation of Violence in September 12 Movies". He continues his doctoral studies in the field of cinema at Anadolu University Institute of Social Sciences.

Müge Hasbay Öztunç worked as a Marketing Manager in multinational companies and in different sectors (beverage, hygienic products, heating systems, industrial kitchen). Throughout her career, she managed the launching of many products and developed brand and communication strategies. Öztunç also works on new product development and has her own product patent. After graduating from Ege University Faculty of Communication, Öztunç completed her master's degree at the same university. (Thesis on "Sponsorships in the Integrated Marketing Communication Process"). She completed her MBA program in the field of "Production Management and Marketing" in Marmara University Faculty of Economics and Administrative Sciences.

Leyla Bektaş Ata
Leyla Bektaş-Ata graduated from Anadolu University Faculty of Communication Sciences Department of Journalism and completed her master's degree at Marmara University with her thesis "Transformation of Urban Space and Alienation: Viewing the City through Documentaries". She worked as a research assistant and lecturer at Bahçeşehir University, Şişli Vocational School, Istanbul Aydın University. She is writing a thesis on neighborhood and city experience in Hacettepe University Communication Sciences Doctorate Program. She continues her studies on urban and daily life studies, urban journalism and qualitative research methods.

Imge Tuğçe Bağır was born in 1986 in Ankara. She completed her undergraduate education at TOBB ETÜ Department of Economics. She completed her master's degree at Hacettepe University Political Science Master's Program with her thesis entitled "Ben’liğin Manifestosu: Max Stirner’de İnsan ve ‘Biricik’". In the Hacettepe University Communication Sciences Doctorate Program, her thesis proposal titled "Üniversite, Neoliberalizm ve Kamusal Bilgi Tartışmaları Bağlamında Açık Erişimli Feminist Dergiler Üzerine Bir İnceleme" was accepted by the institute in June 2017. She continues her studies in the Political Science Doctorate Program of Hacettepe University, which she started in 2015.
Hande Büyükatlı
Hande Büyükatlı was born in 1981 in Istanbul. She graduated from Istanbul Technical University, Department of Industrial Design in 2003. She worked as a designer in a private firm between 2004-2007. She attended Marmara University Production Management and Marketing Master's Program in 2005 and 2006, but left unfinished. She has been working as a research assistant at Mimar Sinan Fine Arts University, Faculty of Fine Arts, Department of Ceramic and Glass Design since 2007. She completed her master's degree in 2009, which she started in MSGSÜ Institute of Social Sciences Ceramic Program in 2006. She left her doctorate study in MSGSU Institute of Science, Industrial Design Program, which she started in 2010, in 2014 and enrolled in the Proficiency in Art Program at the Institute of Fine Arts. She took both the proficiency in art and the doctorate proficiency exams and was found successful. Her thesis research continues, examining the interaction between creativity and game in art and design education. She participated in various national and international group exhibitions. She presented papers in various national and international symposiums.

Aslı Tosuner is an assistant professor of the Communication Faculty at Maltepe University, Turkey where she teaches new media and communication studies. She did her master research on collaborative consumption networks which was one of the first dissertations written on this subject in Turkey and won a scholarship from Bersay Communication Group, Istanbul. She holds a PhD in Communication Sciences from the same university she is working at currently. For her PhD dissertation, she conducted research in Twitter to understand and reveal feminist accounts’ narrative strategies and Twitter’s storytelling capacity. She has also published an article on the ecological narration against neoliberalism and presented a paper focusing on the news stories of the financial crisis in Turkey. Her main research areas are new media, narrative studies and social movements but she is also interested in gender studies, affect theory and social memory studies.
