Galip Deniz Altınay was born in Tarsus. He graduated from Ankara University, Faculty of Communication, Department of Radio, TV and Cinema in 2000. In 2007, he completed the Radio, TV and Cinema Master's Program under the Social Sciences Institute of the same university under the supervision of Prof. Dr. Ruken Öztürk with his thesis titled "Presentation of Violence in September 12 Movies".  He continues his doctoral studies in the field of cinema at Anadolu University Institute of Social Sciences.
